About
It all started when…
Maria Vertiz is a three-time Latin Grammy-nominated composer, producer, and songwriter from Mexico City. Born into a family of musicians, she was introduced to the world of film scoring at an early age by her father. At just 13, she composed her first piece for the feature film The Greatest Miracle—a moment that sparked a lifelong dedication to crafting soundscapes for visual storytelling.
Maria’s music is rooted in the belief that sound can build entire universes. Blending orchestral textures with electronic and cultured influences, she creates ethereal, atmospheric works that draw from structural concepts across eras. Her signature sound moves between the cinematic and the intimate, often designed to evoke emotion and imagination in equal measure.
Educated at Berklee College of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music, Maria has worked alongside iconic composers including Gustavo Santaolalla, James Newton Howard, and Dan Romer. Now based between Los Angeles and Mexico, she continues to shape a unique space in the world of contemporary composition and production.
In addition to her work in film and music production, Maria has launched her new artist project, Solomaria—an exploration of sound and worldbuilding that bridges her cinematic roots with a deeply personal, immersive sonic experience.
